Because stair stringers usually act as enclosures on the sides, it
is desirable to have stringer material extend above the treads. To
provide this material above the treads, a stair stringer is usually
laid out from the bottom or lower line. This layout is also made starting
from the left, but the square is reversed as shown on the right.
